Virtual Co-ops
Virtual Co-ops are welcome here!
We are excited to announce that we are planning to host virtual co-ops that are formed independently of the paid classes that we are offering online. Because we are renting space in online classrooms for 24 hours per day for one year, there will be times available to sublet.

STEP 3: PAY ROOM RENTAL FEE
Pay your room rental fee within 30 days of your approval letter. Directions for the payment process will be in your confirmation email.
All payments must be received when due or your co-op space will be forfeited.
Co-op Classroom Space Fees
- $100 Non-refundable registration fee
- $35 per year for each weekly hour of classroom space needed due by July 1st.
(ie, Registration Fee: $100, 7 hours a week at $35 a year: $245. Total Cost for the Year: $345)
- Note: Most co-ops will spread this cost out, so for this example, each family in a ten-family co-op would pay $34 for the year.
- Co-op space will be offered on a first come first serve basis.
Benefits for the 2010–11 school year
- LLC will be using Elluminate as their Virtual Classroom.
- Co-ops will have the classroom to themselves during their assigned co-op time. There will only be one class going on in a classroom at one time.
- Included in your fee, we offer Elluminate training once or twice a month in June, July, and August - that will be specific to Tapestry Co-ops.
- You will have access to a LLC leaders-only forum on the Lampstand Press forum boards.
- In addition to your teaching sessions, you may hold monthly teacher's meetings: your co-op may request one 2 hour time slot per month.
- Live monthly Q&A sessions for LLC co-ops will be offered. These will be hosted by Barb Spanier and/or Kate Woods for teachers and/or leaders. We will discuss many topics including: scheduling/differences between dialectic and rhetoric co-ops/adding fun activities to your classes/student participation/etc. Marcia, Scott, or Christy Somerville will each attend at least one of these meetings per school year.
Possible future benefits
- A Tapestry of Grace co-op data base (currently hosted on the Tapestry of Grace Synergy Co-op Yahoo Group) may be added to aid families looking for co-ops to join and/or for co-ops looking for new members.
- Moodle, a Virtual Learning Environment, may be used by LLC in the future. One benefit of this technology would be that it would be possible for co-ops to exchange whiteboards easily from year to year.
